Riverside Marine is one of Australia’s leading and long-established marine companies, having been founded in Brisbane in 1926.

The company operates throughout Queensland and Western Australia. The services offered are diverse, but all have a connection with marine or shipping activity. They include sand & gravel dredging, oil bunkering, sand drying & manufacturing, tug & barge transport, marine salvage, coastal towing, engineering and maintenance, passenger and car ferries and charters.

About the role

Reporting to the Group ICT Manager, the role will focus on, and assist with, business process and system improvement across a broad range of business operations and supporting IT systems. Based at the Riverside Marine head office in Newstead, occasional travel to business sites will be required to support users and IT systems across the entire business.

Major responsibilities

  • Determine opportunities for system consolidation and retirement and improvements in business process and reporting
  • Conduct and document gap analysis of business processes and systems
  • Support business managers in the design, build and analysis of information reporting from the different application systems
  • Provide project support to a number of planned lifecycle upgrades and business system implementations, including reporting, stakeholder and vendor liaison, documentation of altered business processes, business change management and project communication.
  • Support business units and end-users in the efficient and effective use of their application systems.
  • Design and deliver productivity improvements through improved use of existing systems and tools
  • Develop end-user training programs and materials, deliver training and monitor skill levels and areas for further improvement. Work with external help-desk service provider to address areas for education and skills improvement.
  • Maintain and develop application lifecycle plans, in conjunction with software providers and business stakeholders. Review new features and functions and undertake cost benefit analysis for patches and upgrades as they become available. Lead projects for upgrades and enhancements through the various SDLC phases.
  • Provide first-level business application support to guide users in the correct process and use of the application software packages. Assist business users in developing small business systems in the Microsoft Office 365 environment (Office / PowerBI / Access / Flow / SharePoint / Excel) as opportunities present.
  • Assist in general awareness and upskilling of users and managers and providing IT Cyber Security awareness and as-required systems training across the Group

Skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline
  • Successful completion of Training or certification in Requirements engineering – eg Volere
  • Successful completion of training or certification in Process Improvement methodologies
  • Preferred completion of Project Management certification
  • Preferred experience in selecting and implementing workplace collaboration and document management tools – eg MS Teams, SharePoint, M-Files, GSuite, Confluence, etc.
  • Preferred experience with Microsoft Apps, including power platform – MS Excel, SQL Server, Power Apps, Power BI, Forms, Flow, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, OneNote etc
  • Preferred knowledge in modern cloud-based applications and services including Pronto ERP, Quality, Health, Safety and Environment systems, Compliance management systems, Communications (Video Conference, Telephony), Desktop productivity tools (Windows 10 + Office 365), Websites
